About us
The U.S. Soccer Foundation was established in 1994 as the major charitable arm of soccer in the United States. It is our mission to enhance, assist, and grow the sport of soccer in the United States, with a special emphasis on underserved communities. At the U.S. Soccer Foundation, we use our game as a vehicle to create positive social change in the communities where the need is greatest. We ensure that girls and boys living in underserved communities have access to evidence-based soccer programming that delivers positive health and youth development outcomes and safe places to play right in their neighborhoods. We are currently providing children in over 410 communities across the country with physical activity, nutrition education, and mentorship through our Soccer for Success program. Our Safe Places to Play program supports the development of safe places to play, grow, and learn, ensuring that children have easy and affordable access to quality soccer programs that support their physical and personal development. In 2017, we launched It’s Everyone’s Game, a campaign to inspire and empower the nation to drive the change that ensures children living in underserved communities enjoy the health and youth development outcomes of the game. In partnership with communities, municipalities, and corporate partners across the country, we aim to reach one million children annually in Soccer for Success and build 1,000 safe play spaces by 2026. Together, we can translate our love of soccer into positive change that improves lives and revitalizes communities. Join the movement at itseveryonesgame.org.

We're dedicated to expanding access to the beautiful game for all children, especially those in underserved communities. As Ed Foster-Simeon, our President & CEO, emphasized, “The way the game has grown here has been largely middle class and suburban. This is an opportunity to expand access to the game. This is part of our legacy vision. It's not just building infrastructure. It's making sure that all children have access to the opportunity to enjoy health and social benefits and participation.” With the 2026 World Cup on the horizon, events like the one at MetLife Stadium, future new mini-pitches, and intentional programming mark the next steps of our journey to ensure every child can experience the joy and benefits of soccer. Together, we can build a brighter future through the beautiful game.

It was a beautiful display of regional unity and inclusivity at MetLife Stadium yesterday. The FIFA World Cup 26™ NYNJ Host Committee invited over 600 youth from organizations across NYC and NJ to play on the same pitch laid down for CONMEBOL Copa America 2024 matches (and the stage that will host the FIFA World Cup 2026™ - Canada, Mexico and the United States Final in just over two years). Skills and drills were led by U.S. Soccer Foundation, the FIFA World Cup 2026™ NYNJ Host Committee’s legacy strategy partner. This event supports the NYNJ Host Committee’s and U.S. Soccer Foundation’s work to leverage soccer to positively impact our communities leading up to and after FIFA World Cup 2026™. The day would not have been possible without the following participating organizations: New Jersey Youth Soccer, YMCA of Greater New York, New Jersey YMCA State Alliance, Newark Ymca, Raritan Bay Area YMCA Perth Amboy New Jersey, Hamilton Area YMCA, New York Red Bulls, New York City FC, Major League Soccer, MLS GO, Dodge YMCA, West Side YMCA, Long Island City YMCA, and Staten Island Broadway YMCA. https://lnkd.in/ef6SKMSi

Had a great time at the League of United Latin American Citizens Convention leading a panel discussion on how we can engage more Latino youth in soccer and use our game as a catalyst for improved health and well-being. Soccer is having a moment in the United States, and at the U.S. Soccer Foundation we believe that millions of kids should have their moment, too. It’s why our team at the Foundation has been working for decades to improve lives and strengthen communities through soccer. I was honored to share insights on how we can engage communities and drive change through our game. And I loved learning from the panelists who are doing inspiring and transformative work as we re-imagine how sports can help young people thrive. We are working to ensure that underserved communities see the benefits of the 2026 World Cup well before the first game kicks off and long after the final match. #SoccerDoes #Legacy2026 Amir Lowery Open Goal Project City of North Las Vegas Karen Ventura Musco Lighting

"This is more than a mini-pitch, it is an opportunity to open doors," highlights Latisha Coleman, Principal of Johnson Middle School. We are proud to see the extraordinary impact of our investment in the U.S. Soccer Foundation and the D.C. Soccer Initiative, which has brought 20 mini-pitches to D.C. communities. Watch below to learn how these mini-pitches offer #SafePlacestoPlay for kids after school and provide valuable experiences to learn, express themselves, and work as a team. #SoccerDoes https://lnkd.in/ga_URKis
