Apologies for blue balling my Austin network yesterday with a Dallas based VP of Product (see my last post for more info), but to make it up to you, I've just landed another exclusive Head of Product search for an Austin based start up. More on that below, but first, here's a conversation I had with my Nan yesterday. "Happy birthday, Dan. Hang on, let me put my teeth in" "You called me, Nan. Didn't want to do that before you called?" "You're right, can't be bothered to get up anyway. How old are you now?" "36" "I'm 90 next month" "I know you are. Are you having a party?" "No point Dan, all my mates are dead." *she laughs maniacally* "Anyway Dan, lovely to see you. Hope you come back to England soon, I won't be around for much longer. Get rid of that stupid beard and put a shirt on." "Cheers Nan." Now I've shamelessly used my dear old nan to get 10 likes or so, here's a bit about the job: My client are an Austin startup in the sense that they haven't launched yet, but they're founded by the founder of one of the largest banks in the Cayman Islands who have already been signed as a client. Given that the Cayman Islands is the World's premier tax neutral financial center due to their stringent compliance and regulatory standards, it makes sense that the founder of the leading bank here has created an AML/KYC SaaS solution, to roll out throughout the US who will now be able to leverage decades of expertise in this arena. They're very well backed and will be profitable quickly. The product is developed and ready to launch, and we're looking for a Head of Product from a Fintech/ Compliance/ Regulatory background, who has GTM experience within startup experience. Comp wise- we're at around the $200k ish (+/- 10% DOE), hybrid working downtown Austin. Again, if you want fully remote, touch grass and connect with your fellow humans a couple of times a week. It'll be good for you. Like and share, or don't. I can't tell you how to live your life. That's why you're in Texas afterall.

We have a new role. And by we, I mean me as I'm the only employee.

Yesterday was the third annual Twelve10 Day. AKA, 12/10- mine, my daughter and her abuelita's birthday on the same day. My poor wife. Long week for her planning a pool party for 20 toddlers, planning an evening dinner for me with my buddies, and whatever she had to organize for her mom. And the worst part for her? Whatever gift she got for me pales in insignificance to what I really wanted for my 36th birthday. Thanks for my massage gun and weightlifting belt and all, cute, but I received something much better last week. A Retained Executive Search for a VP of Product and Engineering for my Texan network (Dallas this time, sorry fellow Austinites, but this would be a b*tch of a commute for y'all). Profitable SaaS startup (seriously), on the verge of a raise or an acquisition, reporting directly into the CEO overseeing both product and engineering. The Engineering team is rock solid and has a great management layer below for you to lean on, but the product side needs more expertise to roadmap and build the org and take the product to the next level and to lend more confidence to potential investors. We want someone sat across the two teams for more cohesion between the two functions, and we want that person to lean heavier on product than engineering. My dream candidate profile is someone who started off in dev (as an engineer, QA, or DevOps etc.) who the segued into product, and has a body of work of scaling innovative SaaS products for nimble companies with tangible results (e.g, took a company from Series A to B or through an M&A). I'm not saying that working for AT&T, IBM or Dell for the last 15 isn't nimble and I'm sure it isn't laced with bureaucracy, or that it's slow moving, probably wouldn't be a fit and would auto DQ you at all, but that's pretty much what I'm saying. Here's what's in it for you: TC of around $260k ish inc. bonus which has been 100% paid out over the last 2 years, (but if you're a GigaChad or GigaChadette or a GigaThem north of that who has exited multiple startups doing exactly this, let's talk anyway), stock options, I've met the entire board, they're all great people, it's a phenomenal product, and this is your opportunity to oversee 2 divisions and build upon something already awesome. 3 stage interview process, I have a candidate pack I've created ready with healthcare and benefits info, FAQ's transcribed from my meeting with the CEO and CFO, full JD, breakdown of their tech stack, happy to share if the above candidate profile sounds like you. Hybrid working 2/3 days a week in office, mainly because they're actually a really nice company who enjoy each other's company. If you want fully remote, touch grass instead, and consider reconnecting with your fellow humans a couple of times a week, it'll be good for you. I promise. Here's the link to the role. Like and share, or don't. I'll fill it anyway because that's what I do. https://lnkd.in/gPVFhqFX
