Today we celebrate Juneteenth, which commemorates when word of the emancipation of slavery finally reached across the United States. Juneteenth is a celebrated as a day of freedom, and in our celebration we also remember that the fight for freedom and justice is not over. Our commitment to a better world remains steadfast, today and every day. May is Foster Care Awareness Month! This year’s theme is improving outcomes for young adults aging out of foster care. In Philadelphia, more than 250 young people leave foster care each year with little to no supports. This is a problem we can solve.
