Through Monday evening, the Western Gulf Coast and Lower Mississippi Valley will see widespread totals of 1-3" with localized amounts upwards of 5" possible. For an already saturated area, this will undoubtedly lead to more flooding and flash flooding as sections of coastal Texas are currently looking at 6-hour flash flood guidances of less than 2". The high-pressure ridge and subsequent cold front will drive temperatures well above the seasonal averages. By the weekend, many areas within the Upper Midwest and Great Lakes could see daytime highs soaring into the upper 80s and 90s. This will largely mean upper 70s and 80s through the remainder of the work week. With that said, the landscape won't be completely void of near 90° readings, they'll just be very sparse. Through Monday evening, a .5-2" swath of rain is anticipated from southern Colorado through the eastern half of New Mexico and into western portions of Texas and Oklahoma. Higher amounts upwards of 2" are also possible in some locations, which will undoubtedly lead to flooding and flash flooding over the next two days. 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐒𝐎𝐔𝐓𝐇 𝐒𝐓𝐀𝐘𝐒 𝐒𝐀𝐓𝐔𝐑𝐀𝐓𝐄𝐃 𝐓𝐇𝐑𝐎𝐔𝐆𝐇 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐄𝐍𝐃 𝐎𝐅 𝐉𝐔𝐋𝐘 💧 Over the next ten days, significant rainfall is expected across the South. A swath of 2.5-5" of rain will extend from south Texas to the Carolinas, with some areas experiencing even higher amounts. While many regions in the South will welcome this precipitation, south Texas is an exception. The area recently experienced heavy rainfall from Beryl, and this additional rain is likely to renew some of the flooding from earlier this month. Even in areas where the rain is much needed, there remains a risk of flooding through the end of July.
