  • Last week, TrueNorth’s Safety and Security Coordinator Demetrius Hall attended the Campus Safety Conference in Atlanta! Mr. Hall was a part of the scholar program which met with vendors and offered valuable tips to make specific products more useful to safety and security. He also met with other safety representatives from the Chicago area and across the country.

  • Parent Engagement Facilitator Nicole Magesis and North Shore Academy Elementary Instructional Coach Rachel Mutter-McKeon pulled together five parent tips for reading at home and letting kids lead. Enjoy summer reading together! Tip 1: Kids learn the ability to read and write from being read to and reading to themselves. Tip 2: Everyone CAN Read! Reading can be looking at pictures and making up a story. Tip 3: Discover and build on interests! Tip 4: Every text counts: magazines, graphic novels, wordless picture books, audiobooks and more! Tip 5: Make reading a game or family event: reading bingo, visit the library library or create a sign scavenger hunt.
