Touchstone Foundation elevates the mental well-being of youth and children in Lancaster County. We do this by improving access to children's mental health care, removing barriers to access with copay assistance, and funding grants. And we are building the talent pipeline to ensure that licensed clinical providers are available to meet the growing demand for mental health care.

We will be offering a Healing Circle and Group Therapy for LGBTQ+ leaders and more, this fall. “Helping the Helpers” Sessions will be free, held at our office, and facilitated by licensed mental health professionals. Our young people are dying, and our community leaders need help to heal, grieve, and serve. More information coming soon. In this Pride Month - I am thankful for the donors that have contributed to the Lancaster County LGBTQ+ Giving Circle that recently awarded $100,000 to organizations centering the LGBTQ+ community throughout Lancaster County. Through this collective approach to philanthropy, multiple individuals contribute to the cause of supporting the LGBTQ+ community; with an advisory committee overseeing grantmaking decisions to ensure a consistent and equitable approach to provide grants impacting LGBTQ+ Lancastrians. This year, $100,000 in grants will support diverse initiatives enhancing the well-being, visibility, and empowerment of the LGBTQ+ community in Lancaster County, including: Eastern PA Trans Equity Project – $12,460 Supportive Services and Empowerment Programs help transgender individuals in Lancaster County with financial assistance, mentoring, and case management. Programs include support for rent, food, utilities, medical expenses, car repairs, legal name changes, transition clothing, mutual aid, and educational scholarships. Girls on the Run of Lancaster and Lebanon – $10,000 Offering 10-week programs for girls in grades 3-8, culminating in a celebratory 5K event. Funding supports updated curriculum, The Confidence Suite, and training for Coaches, Staff, and Board of Directors to enhance understanding of gender identities. Lancaster Pride Association – $25,000 Supports the 16th Annual Festival at the County Convention Center, themed “Our Streets Are Open to All.” The festival promotes visibility, acceptance, and equality through live performances, food vendors, workshops, and vendor booths. Lancaster Public Library – $15,000 The Rainbow Visibility project enhances LGBTQ+ resources through collection development, programming, and outreach to create an inclusive and welcoming environment for queer patrons. Lititz Chooses Love – $25,000 Supports capacity-building efforts, including expanding into new areas, creating a rapid response fund, launching an inclusion institute, increasing staffing capacity, upgrading marketing materials, and securing a dedicated office space. Touchstone Foundation: Youth Mental Wellness Partners – $12,540 Organizes Healing Circles and Group Therapy for Community Benefit Organization leaders serving LGBTQ+ and BIPOC populations in Lancaster County, addressing mental wellness, trauma, and burnout. DVS offers crisis intervention and safety planning via a 24/7 hotline and text line, a continuum of safe housing options from emergency shelter to transitional housing to assistance with permanent housing, empowerment counseling, children’s programming, and legal advocacy and representation. Earlier this month we attended a Seniors Mental Health Awareness Panel Discussion at McCaskey High School organized by the Lancaster Human Relations Commission Advisory Council! LHRC Advisory Council Chair, Katrina Holmes facilitated the discussion with the esteemed guests including: Presenter and Teacher in School District of Lancaster; Sean Hogan, Touchstone Foundation's programs manager Shanece Bowman, MSW, Mental Health America's Shelby Witmer and Kim McDevitt. We’re excited to welcome Dominic Taylor, who is joining us as one of our summer 2024 interns. Dominic is from Lancaster, PA and will be graduating from Millersville University of Pennsylvania in May of 2025 with a major in Information Technology. Dominic will focus on improving the cybersecurity posture, evaluating the current software used, and evaluate alternative software's. Thank you to Fox 43 Wpmt for raising awareness about the need for mental health services across south central PA. Check out this new 30-min. special, "Silence the Stigma- the mental health funding crisis" which includes some highlights from our recent "Feast of the Senses" and interviews with some of our amazing volunteers! At Touchstone Foundation, we are working to build the mental health workforce through scholarships, clinical fellowships for recent graduates to earn their license, and reducing the cost for therapy and counseling for our young people and families. Congratulations to our friends over at Move Forward Counseling, LLC on their opening of their new space on North Arch Street. They are now able to expand their reach of services to the downtown area in Lancaster City, in addition to their many offices across Pennsylvania! Move Forward Counseling is just one of the many agencies that Touchstone Foundation is partnered with for our Mental Health Access Assistance program!
