About us

Founded in 1993 as part of the National Guard Youth Challenge Program, Thunderbird is 22 week tuition free military program for struggling Oklahoma students. Using the structure and discipline of the military, students will attend high school classes, GED classes, and even college classes (for qualified students) as well as learn job skills and life coping skills. The goal of Thunderbird Challenge Program is to provide Cadets the foundation for the future they want and deserve.

Updates

  • It's been two weeks since Graduation, but we want to take a moment to celebrate an extraordinary group of graduates from Thunderbird Challenge Program, our rigorous quasi-military school is dedicated to transforming the lives of at-risk youth. These resilient young men and women have overcome tremendous obstacles to reach this milestone. Thunderbird's intensive program combines academic excellence, physical training, and character development. Through discipline, mentorship, and unwavering support, these students have not only earned their diplomas but have also gained invaluable life skills and a renewed sense of purpose. Their journey wasn't easy. Many arrived feeling lost and discouraged, but they persevered through challenging coursework, grueling physical training, and profound personal growth. They've emerged as confident, capable individuals ready to make positive contributions to society. To Cycle 62: Your determination and grit inspire us all. You've proven that with the right support and your own hard work, any obstacle can be overcome. The skills and resilience you've developed will serve you well as you move forward into bright futures. Special Thank-you to Brigadier General Colby Wyatt, Director of Joint Staff and Congressman Josh Brecheen for their words to our cadets. #ThunderbirdChallenge #Cycle62 #NGYCP #NationalGuardYouthChallegeProgram #Oklahoma #Challengetochange
