ThriveOn Collaboration is dedicated to transforming our city and enhancing the quality of life in our community. By listening to and amplifying the voices of community members, ThriveOn has fostered a sense of ownership and pride, empowering residents to shape their environment. They have developed a vibrant, safe, and inclusive community hub with ThriveOn King, creating a legacy that will live for generations to come. The goal of this multifaceted residential, community, and commercial space is to meet the community's needs with creativity and engagement. The community space will house the art of local Milwaukee artists and be home to first-floor tenant partners Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin, JobsWork MKE, and Malaika Early Learning Center. In addition, Greater Milwaukee Foundation and the Medical College of Wisconsin are providing their much-needed community services in ThriveOn King. MEET THE TEAM TUESDAY: Say hello to Cydney Key, senior director of ThriveOn King guest experience and strategic partnerships ! 👋Here are some interesting facts about her: 📝 Cydney started at the Foundation in 2023. 📝 She is from Florida. 📝 In her role, Cydney collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to activate the first floor community hub at ThriveOn King. She says it’s a beautiful intersection of partnership, activation and impact led by community vision and priorities. 📝 What excites her most about working at the Foundation is the opportunity to make real world impact on a daily basis and the wonderful people that she gets to work alongside at the Foundation and in community. 📝 Growing up, she wanted to be a paleontologist (she was the dinosaur kid!) 📝 Her first job was as an ice cream dipper at a popular Orlando theme park. 📝 The most unusual or interesting job she's had is this one! There's never the same day twice, Cydney says.

All this month we've been highlighting milestone moments from throughout the tenure of our President & CEO Ellen Gilligan, who is set to retire this summer. For the final milestone moment, we highlight the ThriveOn Collaboration. The Foundation, Medical College of Wisconsin and Royal Capital established the ThriveOn Collaboration in 2019 based on a shared vision of a Milwaukee that is equitable, healthy and thriving for all. Guided by community priorities and data, the collaboration is making catalytic investments in housing, early childhood education, health & wellness, economic opportunity and social cohesion, particularly in Milwaukee’s Halyard Park, Harambee and Brewers Hill neighborhoods. Its centerpiece is ThriveOn King, a historic redevelopment and community hub the Foundation now calls home. In partnership with community at every step, ThriveOn King is a local and national model for community led and embedded philanthropy.

ThriveOn King will soon be opening its doors to the community! Today, we hosted a ribbon-cutting ceremony, providing a first look at our space to some of our key stakeholders and community members, including an introduction to our tenant partners, Malaika Early Learning Center, Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin, and JobsWork MKE. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who attended and supported this milestone event. Your presence made it truly memorable. We’re so excited with the progress being made on the first floor of ThriveOn King, including a mural designed and painted by artist Rozalia Singh. She is among the more than 20 acclaimed and home-grown artists who are bringing the history and heritage of Bronzeville to life in the building.
