According to HIPAA HITECH regulations, patients should be notified within 60 days of a data breach. Unfortunately, it has been 5 months since the breach, and Change Healthcare is just now notifying patients about the compromise of their data. Additionally, healthcare providers were only informed last month. This delay in notification is concerning and underscores the importance of timely and transparent communication in such situations. Adhering to HIPAA HITECH guidelines is crucial to maintaining trust and safeguarding sensitive health information. https://lnkd.in/e2MGvRxN

📰 FDA Grants 2-Year Exemption to Small Dispensers from DSCSA Requirements! 💊 Good news for small pharmacies with fewer than 25 employees! The FDA has provided a 2-year exemption from certain DSCSA requirements: 🔹 No need to verify product identifiers for suspect or illegitimate products. 🔹 No electronic exchange of transaction info required. 🔹 Transaction info doesn't need package-level identifiers. 🔹 Current methods can be used for transaction info requests during recalls or investigations. As more biosimilars enter the market, the landscape of patient out-of-pocket (OOP) costs is set for an intriguing shift. With branded drugs losing their single-source status, we can anticipate a reduction in copay support from these manufacturers. This evolution in the pharmaceutical industry will undoubtedly have significant implications for patients and healthcare providers alike. The Drug Channel's post below discusses the impact of true OOP cost in detail. How do you think this change will impact patient affordability and access to essential medications? Let's discuss! https://lnkd.in/gxRwHEbE
