The design of the Milo Climate Action Academy eradicates many barriers to entry to STEM workforce development and provides a unique and inclusive culture where all participants are welcomed and supported to “reach the finish line” in their journey to become technically skilled and competitive. Many first-generation students from underrepresented communities, or economically disadvantaged communities, are tentative about their future and may not feel they can qualify for STEM career fields. There are formidable obstacles for at-risk students to complete a STEM (or any) degree program. The Milo Climate Action Academy will provide a learning and mentoring environment with interactive opportunities for students to engage with subject matter experts. #PRSTRT #MiloInstitute #WorkforceDevelopment #STEM #earthscience #climatechange #Makeadifference4PR Learn more: https://lnkd.in/eRJM5bP6

I am incredibly proud to share that I am ONE of twelve people 😍 trained in a role as a Lead System Engineer for the first-ever space workforce training organised in Australia and New Zealand. I am fortunate to receive sponsorship from AROSE and the Australian Space Agency to participate in the Lunar Exploration Programme 😇. I am so excited and ready for any real space mission! 🚀 🛰 🌌 Task Output: Our team, LUMINA, designed and submitted a Preliminary Design Report (PDR) for a rover (less than 1.5m in length in any direction) weighing less than 180 kg and costing less than USD 225 million to explore the Shoemaker crater and its surroundings. The goal is to determine the chemical properties and relative abundance of hydrogen-containing species and volatiles, as well as the physical properties of the regolith and surrounding environment, to prepare for future Artemis missions. One Impactful Experience Out of Many: I am grateful for the complete spectrum of experience and knowledge gained, particularly in translating the science objectives through the scope of engineering perspectives and conveying them to the engineering team and back. As a Lead System Engineer, I ensured the mission requirements flowed correctly through each subsystem and subcomponent level, making sure everything was connected (Parent-Child) as a verifiable network. I could talk and write all day about it! 😂 Upskill and Training: I upskilled in all directions this Training offered, such as Teaming, Project Management, Requirements, Systems, Risk Management, and Heat Transfer, and trained by experts with extensive experience in NASA's Lunar and Mars missions on behalf of The Milo Space Science Institute at Arizona State University. I should thank many, especially my family, for their support throughout this career development programme and my PhD principal supervisor, Nick Bennett, for understanding and morally supporting me in following this Training from Day 1 to the last day. Thank you! #LeadSystemEngineer #ThermalEngineer #TeamLUMINA #CareerDevelopement #MiloMissionAcademyAUS #SpaceExploration #MiloMissionAcademy #LunarExploration #SouthPole #AROSE #AustralianSpaceAgency #ASU #EarlyCareerProfessionalDevelopment
