I am profoundly saddened by the sudden passing of my very dear friend, Chef Michael Chiarello. Dearest Michael was a magnificent chef, a true pioneer of Napa Valley cuisine, a mentor to so many, and a friend to all. At The Estate Yountville, he brought us together with dinnertime stories and made us feel like family each and every time we sat down in his beautiful restaurants. Michael smiled at you as if he hadn’t seen you in years and you had finally arrived home; he would hug you like a real brother and laugh like he was your best friend. He was our best friend. My heartfelt condolences go out to his beautiful family, and his amazing team at his Gruppo Chiarello. His larger than life spirit and love for Napa Valley will be missed, but his legacy will live on through all those he loved. God bless you Michael, see you on the other side. Yesterday we celebrated the Napa Valley Harvest at our annual Crush It event! There’s nothing like seeing our guests smile and laugh while having a “grape” time stomping Cabernet!
