About us
The Reading League (TRL) is a national education nonprofit led by educators and reading experts dedicated to promoting knowledge to re-imagine the culture of literacy education and accelerate the global movement toward reading instruction rooted in science. The purpose of The Reading League is to increase knowledge of science-based approaches to teach reading as well as research that demystifies how people learn to benefit the lives of millions of students. We train and support educators and school leaders. By extension, we also serve parents, specialists, and researchers. We believe all children deserve to learn to read and all teachers can learn to teach them.

This #PrideMonth, we are sharing books that feature LGBTQ+ characters and families, hoping to inspire and open hearts. 🏳️🌈 https://bit.ly/4bmTNWH 🏳️🌈 https://bit.ly/3RM7IyC Reading literature that features characters living similar experiences of LGBTQ+ students and their families can foster a sense of belonging and reassure them that they are represented, seen, heard, and loved. It also enables parents, friends, family members, and others to gain a deeper understanding of these students' unique celebrations and struggles. Representation in literature provides windows and mirrors into the unique life experiences of LGBTQ+ youth and families, fostering intrinsic motivation to read and encouraging deeper engagement with books. Dr. John Guthrie’s research shows that intrinsic motivation increases student reading by 300%. Happy Pride! #PrideReads #QueerVisibility #QueerLiterature #Equality #InclusionMatters
