Creating Equity in Entrepreneurship | Building bridges across the diaspora | Architecting growth strategies
The power and expertise of Latina and Black women are shaping our future. We need to celebrate them today and every day. Here’s why: Despite a lack of access to social, technical and financial capital . . . Despite representing less than 3% of the technology workforce combined . . . Despite reporting that 85% of Latina and Black women experienced discrimination . . . And being turned down for promotions more than any other group . . . Despite that and other inequities . . . in the last few years . . . Over 350 Latina and Black founders have raised at least $1m in funding . . . and . . . Nine startups founded by Latina and Black women have become unicorns - a $1 billion or higher valuation . . . and . . . Five companies have raised over $100 million . . . Including . . . * Honeybook, founded by first-generation Mexican-American entrepreneur Shadiah Sigala * Aura Biosciences, founded by Spanish entrepreneur Elisabet de los Pinos * Health IQ, founded by Mexican-American entrepreneur Alexandra Marshall Obviously, we have so much work to do. But let us never forget the resiliency of Latina and Black women business owners. #LatinasLead #Entrepreneur #Entrepreneurship #Leadership Latino Leadership Institute

I recently completed a leadership program called Ignite designed especially for Latino/a leaders from across the nation offered by the Latino Leadership Institute (LLI). It was a unique and rewarding experience to interweave our cultural heritage, upbringing, and values as we learned from one another during sessions on Roots of Identity, Overcoming Success Barriers, Neuroleadership, Optimizing Performance, and the Science of Change. I highly recommend it!
Ignite was issued by Latino Leadership Institute to Maria Molina.

Creating Equity in Entrepreneurship | Building bridges across the diaspora | Architecting growth strategies
Last week I posted about the crippling wealth gap faced by Latinos in the U.S. Today, let's dive deeper. Systemic barriers act like a broken ladder, hindering Latino businesses from building wealth. Limited access to traditional funding forces Latino entrepreneurs to rely heavily on personal and family resources during the crucial startup phase. This lack of social and financial capital restricts their ability to scale and transition into employer firms, ultimately leaving their businesses vulnerable and stifling wealth creation. Think of it this way: If Latino-owned employer firms were given the same access to resources as their white counterparts, they would generate an additional $4 billion in revenue and 1 million jobs. And that unrealized potential of Latino employer firms directly affects wealth creation for Latinos. Why? Employer firms have higher company valuations, deeper partnerships, larger workforces, and create more jobs. And not only do they create jobs, but through paychecks and taxes, Latinos are able to put more money back into their communities. It's time to fix this broken ladder. Share your thoughts in the comments below or send me a DM! Let’s connect. #WealthGap #LatinoBusiness #BreakBarriers
