Career listener, audio executive, champion of sound + story, via Canadaland & AUDIO FLUX.

It's days later and I'm still recovering from such a dynamite time in New York for the Tribeca Audio program. I was honored and then some to be there with two projects: Audio Flux and A Field Guide to Gay Animals, from CANADALAND which launched earlier this week. Still floating on the energy and determination and HEART of the audio community, the collective support and enthusiasm for what we're all trying to do... and what we're hella DOING! Herculean thanks to Davy Gardner and his team for orchestrating the wide range of excellent happenings, for their careful ears, attention to detail and grace under pressure. And to my partner in flux-crime, The Reverend John DeLore for his steadiness, brilliant audio ways always, and terrible-excellent pet puns, always. And to Ben Lenovitz for diving into Circuit 03 with us without hesitation and bringing such joy to the event and the fluxmakers through his portraits. And to the IMI (The Independent Media Initiative) for supporting this circuit and throwing a big party to properly celebrate independent audio creators. And to every fluxmaker, near and far, who is IN it with us! Hope you'll check out Field Guide (it's really very special -- tell your friends) and stay tuned to hear the brilliant Pet Sounds fluxworks from Circuit 03, coming soon. p.s. If you're wondering, yes YOU can commission a portrait of your pet from Ben! Use discount code FLUXY for 10% off. It's our first promo code (sob) https://lnkd.in/eBzdKx-h

Building For The Next Generation of Creators

Some old memories from my trip to the Patreon HQ! Several weeks ago, I had the privilege of breaking down my creative process with Jack Conte. Him and his team have been working on a show called Digital Spaghetti where they focus on highlighting the artistic corner of the creator industry. It was an absolute honor to be invited, and as I sifted through all the videos to prepare for my own interview, I couldn’t help but get excited over the unique curation of guests for each episode. In a time where most creator related channels are talking about building million dollar businesses and highlighting the same creators over and over again -- it was cool to see a show that reminded people of all the creative possibilities on these platforms. As much as YouTube, Instagram, and TikTok have created new ways to build businesses, they have also created new ways to express our creativity. The fact that a show like Digital Spaghetti exists, is a sign that platforms like YouTube are legit places for artistic expression -- for filmmakers, artists, and storytellers to innovate and share work that can be as culturally impactful as a Scorsese movie. If you’re interested in my Digital Spaghetti episode, check it out here! https://lnkd.in/eM8C2nvA
