The purpose of the EPI Conejo Valley Chapter is to create a forum where the local community of professional advisors can collaborate to address unique needs of the local community; develop educational programs for business owners and professional advisors to build awareness and better prepare an owner for the successful exit of their business; develop, encourage and foster the adoption of best practices for the exit planning profession; and promote the common business interests of those business advisors engaged in the profession of exit planning.

  • Earlier today, the Exit Planning Institute Conejo Valley Chapter hosted an exciting chapter meeting, Exit Planning Showdown: Trivia for the Top Guns. It was a thrilling success with Esther Hopkins, Mike Rudow, MBA, CFP®, AIF®, CEPA®, David McBride, and James D. Reynolds leading the charge! This interactive, Jeopardy-style trivia session challenged participants with tough questions drawn from Chris Snyder's book, Walking To Destiny, LA Owner Readiness market data, chapter member insights, and core exit planning strategies. Brent Reinke from Stradling and Elizabeth Anderson, CEPA from Whittier Trust Company, spearheaded an engaging discussion on the essential steps for business owners eyeing a transition. Attendees recognized the challenge of balancing day-to-day operations with transition preparation, acknowledging the unique obstacles that arise when passing the torch of a business created from scratch. Financial stability emerged as a prominent concern, with navigating fluctuating interest rates and aligning seller and buyer expectations on valuation proving to be significant hurdles in today's economic climate.
