We are pleased to announce today that Christine Scheuneman, J.D., of Orange County, California, United States, has been awarded the prestigious Certificate in Risk Governance®. Christine is an independent director and the chair of the Risk and Compliance Committee at Farmers & Merchants Bank of Long Beach, where she also serves as a member of the Nomination and Governance Committee. She is chair of the board of directors of the Girl Scouts of Orange County, where she also chairs the Audit Committee. She is a member of the board of directors of the Orange County United Way, where she serves on the Finance Committee and the Advocacy Committee. Christine serves as a member of the Advisory Boards for the Center for Real Estate at the University of California, Irvine - The Paul Merage School of Business and the Serenbetz Institute for Women’s Leadership, Social Responsibility and Global Awareness at Cottey College. She previously served as board chair and chair of the Audit and Risk Committee and Trusteeship (Governance) Committee for the Cottey College Board of Trustees. Congratulations to Zelda Roscherr on receiving permission to use the Qualified Risk Director® designation. She is the first person in South Africa to receive this global distinction. Zelda is an independent non-executive director for the FirstRand group, the largest financial services group in South Africa by market capitalization. She is the chairperson of the Board Risk Committee and is a member of the Audit Committee. She also chairs the advisory board of an asset manager and the risk committee of an investment bank. Zelda serves as a board trustee for a large South African empowerment foundation, which is a public benefit organization. She is currently the chairperson of its disbursement committee and serves on the investment committee. She has more than 30 years of financial services experience in various executive as well as advisory roles, holding positions as head of fixed income, currencies, and commodities, bank treasurer, and specialist risk consultant in the past. Zelda received degrees in mathematics, econometrics, and statistics from the University of Johannesburg and a Master's degree in Global Finance from the Bayes Business School (UK). With more than forty years of experience in the financial services industry, her prior senior and C-suite roles spanned a variety of fields, including serving as chief risk officer and chief compliance officer for Concentra Financial and chief risk officer for SaskCentral.
