“We hope to recruit the next generation of leadership, people who are mid-career and have already accomplished things,” CMS-A Executive Director, Julie Cohen Theobald, shared with WineBusiness Monthly. “Hopefully, someday they’ll become Master Sommeliers.” Building on the success of our inaugural event, the second annual Women’s Sommelier Symposium in Santa Barbara in March, empowered a new generation of women sommeliers. Chosen from more than 100 applicants, 10 women who showcased significant leadership potential were selected to participate in the Symposium with fully sponsored travel. The goal for our second year was to ignite a more significant change in the industry by creating a safe and supportive space for women sommeliers. I'm grateful for the opportunity to have presented at The Advanced Course by Court of Master Sommeliers, Americas (CMSA). A heartfelt thank you to fellow board members Melissa Monosoff MS, CMSA Director of Education, for organizing this enriching training program, and David Yoshida MS, CMSA Vice Chair, for the opportunity to co-present the ethics and values session. Throughout the sessions, we utilized innovative tools like boodleAI, Slido, and Midjourney AI to enhance our presentations and effectively engage the audience. Slido helped us create interactive sessions, while these AI copilots refined our content on personal branding, exam preparation, and workflow optimization for sommeliers.
