#DYK? Traditional knowledge, often preserved by Indigenous women, is vital for climate resilience. 🗣 We hear from Sara Omi, an Embera lawyer and Indigenous rights advocate from Panama, who explains how her community turned to medicinal plants during COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the importance of protecting our forests and the wisdom they hold. Supporting Indigenous women means investing in a sustainable future and preserving cultural heritage. Learn more about the impact of ancestral knowledge on climate action and community well-being. ⤵ 📽️In partnership with Global Alliance of Territorial Communities If Not Us Then Who? Our partner If Not Us Then Who? has a lot to share about their work and accomplishments over the past year. We're grateful to them for their impact. #TheChristensenFundPartner #IndigenousPeoples #IndigenousStories #selfdetermination
As the solstice marks a time of renewal and reflection, we are inspired to share a recap of our journey! This past year, we reached significant milestones that have expanded our reach celebrating Indigenous, Afro-Descendent, and Local Communities narratives. We launched our Residency Program for Emerging Narratives from Indigenous and Afro-descendant Communities in Latin America, in partnership with The International Land and Forest Tenure Facility which has taken off, fostering new voices and stories. We also continued our multi-year Mentorship Program, launching new films welcoming new mentees and masterclasses. Our impact events sparked meaningful change through critical questions and global collaboration, empowering individuals to engage, reflect, and act. We joined our partners in key events including The Free Land Camp, New York Climate Week, and COP 28 to echo their voices across the world. We also relaunched the Our Village platform to host dialogues on Earth healing, climate, racial justice, and land stewardship, featuring influential figures and emphasizing action and reflection on global issues. Swipe left to explore our key actions and follow our journey to understand our story and impact.
