Want to learn about Human-Centered Design in Healthcare? Our very own Meghana Gadgil will be teaching a virtual course from September 9th-December 6th 2024 that is open UCSF affiliated and non-affiliated. Head to https://lnkd.in/gQxBYkgs to learn more or register. You can also email ImplementationScience@ucsf.edu with questions. More details: "Human-centered design incorporates the human needs perspective to solve problems in public health and medicine. As an introduction to the practice, learners follow a design process and apply methods focused on building empathy, translating needs into solution requirements, creative ideation, prototype development and testing, and planning for implementation. Broad principles of implementation science are overlaid to examine relationships. This is a dynamic experiential learning format. Learners engage in design activities and meet for weekly design labs in a virtual collaborative space to advance their work. Fall courses begin September 9 and run through December 6. Enroll by June 15 and receive $100 off: Unaffiliated with UCSF: $2650 Affiliated with UCSF or primary residence in LMIC or area of ongoing armed conflict: $2,150" #implementationscience #humancentereddesign #ucsf #healthcaredesign

Congrats to Adrienne Yang, who recently presented our HCD research “Exploration of Medical Student Debt-Related Stress in the US (2019-2021): A Mixed Methods Study". This is the first nation-wide study to examine medical student debt-related stress. Adrienne presented at the Association of American Medical Colleges (AAMC)Western Group on Educational Affairs Annual Conference, an event that highlights original research or innovations in medical education. During her 15-minute oral abstract presentation, Adrienne discussed our findings from using human-centered design methodologies. We discovered that debt negatively impacts students’ emotional wellbeing and professional development, which generated interesting discussions with the audience about interventions to improve the future of medical education. This presentation was nominated for an award for best oral abstract research presentation! #healthcaredesign #AAMC #wellness #mentalhealth
