We're thrilled to announce George Dawson, CFO & CCO at TenSquared Capital, as a speaker at the LPGP Connect CFO/COO Private Equity event in Miami on May 9, 2024. George Dawson is the Chief Financial Officer and Chief Compliance Officer of 10SQ. He brings over 15 years of experience within the venture capital and private equity industry and has extensive experience scaling alternative asset management firms. Previously, Mr. Dawson was the CFO and CCO of 10T, a growth equity firm focused on investing in mid-to-late-stage companies in the Digital Asset Ecosystem, where he oversaw all aspects of the firm’s operations as it grew rapidly in AUM from zero to over $1.2Bn while also leading the firm through SEC registration. Prior to 10T, Mr. Dawson was the VP of Fund Finance at Techstars, the leading global accelerator and venture capital firm and the world’s most active pre-seed investor. While at Techstars he oversaw all fund accounting, reporting, valuation, fund structuring and was responsible for implementing institutional investor grade processes and operations. Before joining Techstars, Mr. Dawson was the Assistant Controller at JLL Partners, a New York middle market private equity firm with over $4Bn in AUM. At JLL, he managed all reporting, operations, and SEC compliance. Earlier in his career, he worked in the New York asset management assurance practices of EY and KPMG serving a variety of large private equity funds, hedge funds, fund of funds and mutual fund clients. George is passionate about venture capital and disruptive technologies. He enjoys mentoring entrepreneurs and early-stage startups. Mr. Dawson graduated from Syracuse University’s Whitman School of Management where he received a B.S. in both Accounting and Finance and a minor in Economics. Mr. Dawson is a licensed CPA in the State of New York. George also serves as a CFO/COO advisor to Island Green Capital Management LLC, a late-stage venture capital firm based in Los Angeles.
