Tennessee State offices will close tomorrow, June 19, to observe Juneteenth. State offices will re-open on Thursday, June 20.
The Tennessee Department of Environment and Conservation (TDEC) exists to enhance the quality of life for citizens of Tennessee and to be stewards of our natural environment. This is achieved by protecting and improving the quality of Tennessee's air, land and water through a responsible regulatory system; protecting and promoting human health and safety; conserving and promoting natural, cultural and historic resources; and providing a variety of quality outdoor recreational experiences. TDEC is committed to providing a cleaner, safer environment that goes hand-in-hand with economic prosperity and increased quality of life in Tennessee. We deliver on our mission through managing regulatory programs that maintain standards for air, water and soil quality while providing assistance to businesses and communities in areas ranging from recreation to waste management. We also manage the state park system and programs to inventory, interpret and protect Tennessee’s rich natural, historical and archaeological heritage.

It's bittersweet to say farewell to TDEC's Division of Water Resources Director Jenny Dodd. After being a part of TDEC for nearly 25 years, she has left for another rewarding role outside the agency. Current and former employees came out last month to wish her well, including two former Division Directors, Paul Davis and Tisha Calabrese-Benton, and current Interim Director April Grippo. Good luck on your next adventure, Jenny! We'll miss you!
TDEC kicked off our BOE/BOSE summer internship program in Knoxville this week! The interns participated in water sampling during the orientation and took a field trip to Conservation Fisheries. We are thrilled to have such a great group of students interning with TDEC this summer! The summer program runs until August. Details for the fall internship program will be announced soon. #environment #tdec #internship

Tennessee State Parks, the Tennessee Department of Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities, and the Tennessee State Parks Conservancy have announced the installation of an adult-sized changing table in the visitors center at Natchez Trace State Park. The changing table enhances accessibility for tasks such as toileting. The table will assist changing for adults with special needs, children, and teens. Beyond being more convenient and dignified for visitors who need them, tables like these open up whole new possibilities for traveling and enjoying parks for many visitors and their caregivers.
