“What happens on campus shapes what happens in Congress. This shift has transformed the role of large universities’ federal relations teams and required even the smallest of schools to prepare for congressional scrutiny. In an era where a handful of social media posts can lead to a Capitol Hill hearing, developing a plan before a crisis is critical.” According to Partner Kent Holland and SVP Natalie Farr Harrison, policymakers are increasingly skeptical of higher education institutions. In an op-ed for University Business, Kent and Natalie share five key issues university leaders and staff should consider when developing response strategies over the next several months. https://lnkd.in/gDbUrQWd

Last night, we convened our 3rd annual Elevate Voices series, featuring a panel of experts discussing how women will impact the election. SVP and Lobbyist Rebecca Shaw from our Government Relations team joined Molly O'Shaughnessy, Managing Partner and COO at EMC Research Inc. and Cheyanne M. Daniels, Race and Politics Reporter at The Hill, with a presentation by Manager of our Insights & Strategic Planning team, Kyle Taylor. The discussion was moderated by Vice President of our Narratives team Elizabeth Held. The conversation brought varying perspectives, but a common census was simple: the women’s vote will matter in November. • “Inflation affects all Americans, but it’s women who are feeling it the most, so it’s not surprising that this is a top issue this coming election.” - Rebecca Shaw • “Presenting an authentic reason as to why women should vote for you [a candidate] is necessary. What are these candidates going to DO about these issues?” - Molly O’Shaughnessy • “I think there’s more bipartisanship than we think during this election season. While I’m not convinced that all women will come together, join hands and sing kumbaya, we are seeing that women’s coalition take the reins of how the country is being run.” - Cheyanne M. Daniels • “Of course it matters who the president is going to be, and women will play a major role in the decision.” - Kyle Taylor

Last night, I joined Cheyanne M. Daniels and Molly O'Shaughnessy at Avōq's 3rd annual Elevate Voices series for a conversation about how women will impact this year's elections. The discussion included Avoq's own data and insights, and we found that inflation and the cost of living are top of mind for women in battleground states. Take a look at my POV on the topic:
