Holistic innovation | Technology and people in harmony via Flow Together™️, Team Topologies, and Continuous Stewardship.
💡 I think we need to weave two sets of threads for sustained fast flow: 1. The "warp": Architecture for flow: teams, services, processes - Team Topologies, Flow Engineering, the original DevOps practices, Wardley Mapping, DDD, etc. 2. The "weft": Alignment for flow: practices, mission, trust, safety, etc. - active knowledge diffusion, lunch & learns, internal conferences, psychological safety, etc. (I will be posting more about this over the coming weeks...) 🧵🪡 #FastFlow #TeamTopologies #Alignment Image: By RaiyaniM - Own work, CC BY-SA 4.0,

#Platform lock-in decreases its value. Platforms need to make the “right thing to do, the easy thing to do” not “the only thing you can do”, so teams will naturally *want* to consume the platform services. Learn more on Platform as a Product, what it means and how it sets the right incentives to build services and options that help accelerate & reduce cognitive load. Case studies included! PS: Course delivered by the authors of the acclaimed book #TeamTopologies Manuel Pais (Team Topologies) 🇺🇦 🇵🇸 and Matthew Skelton. Don't miss our 15% summer sale (use SUMMER2024 at checkout)

🔍 Where to Start with Your Platform? Many Platform Engineering initiatives stumble initially, often due to either big-design-upfront approaches or not building with the right purpose. The key is to improve developer experience (DevEx) and team productivity by reducing the cognitive load on product teams. This results in a fast creation and flow of value for the business. Listen to what Manuel Pais (Team Topologies) 🇺🇦 🇵🇸 has to say: https://lnkd.in/dUFwDjdQ 🚀 The KEY is: ✅Focus on Stream-Aligned Teams' Needs: Start with what your teams need, not just potential platform capabilities. ✅Have the Thinnest Viable Platform: Aim for a minimal set of high-quality, reliable services to accelerate team performance. ✅Platform as a Product: Treat stream-aligned teams as customers, prioritizing quality and usability over quantity. ✅Cross-Functional Platform Teams: Include both technical and product development skills to create easy-to-consume, highly adopted services. 🎓 Learn More and Start Your Journey: https://lnkd.in/dzDEqARn #PlatformEngineering #TeamTopologies #DevEx #SoftwareDevelopment #Agile #Leadership

🔍 Exploring Team and Service Boundaries with User Needs Mapping. If you know you know 👉 Aligning team and service boundaries with user needs can transform your workflow? Big thanks to Rich Allen for writing this article: https://lnkd.in/ezWjsPKp. By leveraging the FIVE steps of Wardley Mapping, your organization can redefine team boundaries and map dependencies more effectively: ✅Define Your “True North” (ie Your Customer/User). ✅User’s Needs – Needs to be met. ✅Capabilities – How you’re going to meet your user’s needs. ✅Value Chain – A list of users, needs, and capabilities becomes a value chain when you add dependency relationships. ✅Wardley Map – A value chain becomes a Wardley Map when you determine how evolved everything is and position it accordingly (left-to-right) on the evolutionary axis. This approach reduces cognitive load, improves service delivery, and fosters agility. Discover how to enhance your organizational structure for better efficiency and agility. Dive into the full article for insights and practical steps. 👉 Read more: https://lnkd.in/ezWjsPKp #TeamTopologies #Agile #ServiceDelivery #OrganizationalEfficiency #WardleyMapping The power of Wardley Mapping lies within this unique ability to capture “movement” or evolution over time i.e. changing the position of an item changes its meaning on the map and puts the focus of the conversation onto the map. However, it is also this concept that means people can find the practice intimidating in the first instance since there is so much to take in.
