Son/Mentee: 😲 (Astonished/Shocked). In a world where persistence is often touted as the key to success, let's normalize teaching our boys the importance of respecting boundaries in relationships. This is key because business values (never give up, keep on trying), are part of societal expectations placed on boys/men, and these expectations have extended beyond the areas of just work. We need to break the cycle of relentless pursuit and empower young men to embrace "no" as a valid answer. Let's help them understand it's not to be understood as a 'failure', and not something that they should feel ashamed of either ("Oh, her? Nah, man, she was just *crazy*, wouldn't have wanted to go out with her anyway"). No just means no. Today is Juneteenth, a day where we celebrate a pivotal moment when freedom's promise reached those who had been unjustly enslaved for centuries. Sadly, as of the most recent estimates available, there are approximately 40.3 million people worldwide who are currently living in slavery. This includes forced labor, forced marriage, and other forms of exploitation. This quarter, in honor of Juneteenth, Talent Masters’ charity donations will be going to the NAACP as well as The Human Rights Campaign. (We always give 10% of ALL PROFIT direct to charities and community causes). We've got a lot of work to do still to create a just, equitable and fair society, but I want to thank all our lovely team here for supporting us on our journey as Talent Masters tries to lead the way in this fight.
