The Learning Lab program at our Palmdale Family Resource Center reopens on August 12th, offering free academic support for students in grades 4-12. This after-school program empowers students to reach their full potential, providing: ◦ Free group and individual tutoring in all subjects ◦ College guidance counseling to navigate applications and financial aid ◦ Access to computers and printers to support academic success Whether a student is struggling and needs additional support or is a high-achieving student looking for enrichment opportunities, the Learning Lab provides resources and support to thrive. Foster youth at our El Nido residential campus enjoy working in the garden with our wonderful volunteer, Sara. Recently, they've made seed bombs, welcomed ladybugs, harvested and planted various crops, and even gathered 10 lbs. of potatoes from the raised bed! They've also been clipping rosemary, green onion, and mint from the herb garden for the kitchen, and making sage bundles. It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of Harriet Boyd at the end of last month. Harriet joined Sycamores as a consultant before becoming our Chief Financial Officer in 2019. During her tenure, she guided us through significant growth of our programs and many challenges including the COVID pandemic, always keeping us on track. We are deeply grateful for her inspired leadership, sense of humor, compassion, and commitment to our organization and those we serve. Each July, National Minority Mental Health Month reminds us of the critical need for accessible mental health services for everyone. Racial and ethnic minorities often face unique challenges, with cultural barriers and stigma creating roadblocks to seeking help. These challenges can have a real impact on mental well-being and overall health. It's important to have honest discussions about mental health. Share your story, listen to others, and help end the stigma.

As PTSD Awareness Month draws to a close, we're proud to share that Sycamores is part of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network. We provide expert trauma-informed care for youth, families, and individuals. Our research and training program, Hathaway Center for Excellence (HCFE), delivers science-backed training and outreach across Southern California and nationwide.
