I’m thrilled to announce Swift Solar’s Series A! ☀ We raised $27M led by Eni Next and Fontinalis Partners, with participation from a diverse group of investors including Stanford University, Good Growth Capital, BlueScopeX, HL Ventures, Toba Capital, Climate Capital, Adam Winkel, Jonathan Lin, and James Fickel, along with amazing founders like Sid Sijbrandij and Fred Ehrsam. 3 things to know: 1) Solar is the future of energy. Solar is growing faster than any other energy source, and it will provide over half of the world’s energy by 2050. Solar PV is one of the most important technologies for the future of humanity. 2) Perovskites are the future of solar. Perovskite tandem solar cells can outperform anything on the market today using less material and less energy. Tandems will make solar energy even more affordable and more widely accessible. 3) Swift Solar is pioneering perovskites. Our next-gen tandem technology will help bring solar manufacturing back to the US and stop climate change. We have hit major performance and stability targets and started making commercial-size tandem cells on our prototype manufacturing line. With this round, we are advancing from R&D toward manufacturing scale-up in the US. ☀️🔬 Today, we announced 18 projects that will receive a combined $71M in funding for research, development, and demonstration of technologies across the solar supply chain. The solar manufacturing projects will address gaps in the domestic solar manufacturing supply chain, including equipment, ingots and wafers, and silicon and thin-film solar cell manufacturing, and open new markets for solar technologies like integrated-photovoltaics and agrivoltaics.
