A force united by a promise to end breast cancer, funding groundbreaking research, community health & advocacy programs.
About us
In 1980, Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. Two years later, that promise became the Susan G. Komen® organization and the beginning of a global movement. For over 40 years, we've led the way funding groundbreaking research, community health initiatives and advocacy programs in local communities across the U.S. and in more than 30 countries. And with your help, we’ll continue pushing for progress to end breast cancer every day, until it’s a thing of the past. An exciting first-of-its kind tool developed through your donations and a collaboration between Komen, Inflammatory Breast Cancer (IBC) Research Foundation and the Milburn Foundation could help doctors diagnose inflammatory breast cancer. IBC often does not present as a lump, making it harder to spot on a mammogram. Instead, people notice symptoms such as a rash or swelling, which can easily be confused with a breast infection. IBC is aggressive and delays in diagnosis can contribute to poorer outcomes. Read more about the accessible online tool in this article from Breast Cancer Wellness Media. https://bit.ly/3WbIATj

Michelle was diagnosed with stage 1 breast cancer when she was 36. But less than a year later, she learned the cancer had metastasized (spread). "I want to empower patients with cancer to embrace the new normal, the new you," she said. "I try to live my life to the fullest and embrace the beauty of myself, even with all the changes. Right now, a gift to Komen, which will be doubled by Avis Budget Group, will provide direct patient support to over 40,000 people facing breast cancer this year. https://bit.ly/4cmROTo #AvisBudgetGroup #DrivenToDoGood #PlanOnUs #WeKnowTheRoad

You know your body best and self-advocating means listening to your body and speaking up for it. Tune in to the latest episode of Real Pink to hear Sierra Turner's story - she had to fight to be taken seriously when she found a lump in her breast at age 26 because she was told that she was too young for breast cancer. https://apple.co/2LMAcsi
