A force united by a promise to end breast cancer, funding groundbreaking research, community health & advocacy programs.
About us
In 1980, Nancy G. Brinker promised her dying sister, Susan, that she would do everything in her power to end breast cancer forever. Two years later, that promise became the Susan G. Komen® organization and the beginning of a global movement. For over 40 years, we've led the way funding groundbreaking research, community health initiatives and advocacy programs in local communities across the U.S. and in more than 30 countries. And with your help, we’ll continue pushing for progress to end breast cancer every day, until it’s a thing of the past. Komen and our partner GE HealthCare encourage you to advocate for yourself and remind you that talking openly with your doctor is one of the best ways to feel empowered about your breast cancer treatment decisions and your care. Whole body imaging may be indicated in certain breast cancer patients, and there is now targeted imaging available that may aid in the management of recurrent or metastatic ER+ breast cancers. It is important to do research on your tumor characteristics and ask your doctors questions until the answers make sense to you. Good conversations lead to shared decision-making with your doctors on personalized treatments that are consistent with your goals.
