Meet Audrey! At heart, Audrey is a people person. As a Market Manager she is in a unique position to build and maintain relationships in the communities we serve, and has been doing an amazing job so far. She says what she loves most about working for Surf is the variety her job offers. Everyday is different and offers new challenges. She enjoys traveling to different communities, attending events, and meeting new people. “I love connecting with community members and often volunteer with organizations such as the We Care of Grundy County Food Pantry. Even if it’s not a Surf sponsored event I am able to build relationships with these organizations on Surf’s behalf through my volunteer work.” During her down time, Audrey has two main passions: fast cars and her beloved dog, Buddy. The first car Audrey ever owned was a 1980 Camaro. Her current pride and joy is an ‘08 Mustang GT, which is the fifth Mustang she’s owned so far. She also loves going to car shows to see the older cars all souped up. But as much as she loves fast cars, Audrey’s favorite time spent is with Buddy. The 70-pound shepherd mix was originally her Dad’s dog, but as he’s gotten older, she has become Buddy’s primary caretaker. They love to go for car rides, play at the park, and swim at the lake; but their favorite way to spend time together is simply a nice afternoon walk. Audrey, keep up the amazing work you’re doing. We're proud to announce that Surf has been awarded three Connect Illinois grants, totaling $10.5 million, to expand broadband access in the rural areas of Whiteside, Grundy, LaSalle, Lee, and Putnam counties! Meet Michele and David Muir, the owners and managers of Fruit Hills Winery & Orchard in Bristol, Indiana! 🍷🍇 After being downsized from his job in 2009, David and his wife, Michelle, sought a sustainable venture for their family farm, opening the winery and orchard in November 2010. Over the past 14 years, their passion has made the winery and orchard a huge success. With their son Nathan joining the team this summer, the business continues to grow. Meet Betsy! Betsy plays an integral part on the construction team here at Surf, creating new projects, updating vital information for current projects, and ensuring our vendors and contractors get paid. She says what she loves most about working for Surf is the people, especially her team. Everyone gets along and team members work well together, creating a supportive work environment. They genuinely care about each other, both personally and professionally. Everyone is always very helpful, especially when you’re new. “Surf is a one-of-a-kind place. I’ve never worked anywhere like this before.” When she’s not being a project coordinator extraordinaire, Betsy likes to spend her time doing photography. She caught the bug as a teenager when her uncle gifted her a professional camera for her high school graduation. Shortly after graduating, Betsy had the opportunity to travel through Holland, Germany, Switzerland, and Venice, where she put her new camera to good use. These days she focuses mainly on outdoor photography, including senior-class photos, engagement photos, and baby’s first-year photos. Betsy also enjoys going out on the boat on Simonton Lake in Elkhart, Indiana where she grew up as well as spending time with her two Alaskan Malamutes. Betsy, keep up the great work!
