We’re thrilled to announce the release of Elior North America's 2023 Doing Good Social & Environmental Responsibility (SER) Report! 🌎 In our second annual report, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, highlighting significant achievements and setting ambitious new goals for the future. Over the last year, we've made remarkable progress in various areas: 🍽️ Food Waste Reduction: Our Waste Nothing program has seen a 49% reduction in food waste, diverting 247 tons from landfills through donations and composting efforts. 🌱 Plant-Based Initiatives: 30% of our new program entrées are now plant-based, with a goal to increase this to 50% by 2025! 🌍 Responsible Sourcing: We've served over 1 million pounds of local produce and expanded our network to include over 200 certified MWBE suppliers, furthering our commitment to ethical and sustainable sourcing. Chef Danny to the rescue! In Collaboration with Placer County Sherrif’s Office (PCSO) and Placer School for Adults, Summit Food Service concluded the tenth installment of the Culinary Arts Program. A total of 48 Inmates have completed the program since it began in 2021. Prior to the class, the aspiring chefs completed a culinary math course and received ServSafe certification. The ten-day program provided Inmates with the skills needed to gain employment in the food services industry. The upbeat and knowledgeable Executive Chef and General Manager, Daniel “Danny” Hernandez led the class and provided hands-on training which included kitchen techniques and recipes. Summit started similar programs in jails throughout the country, mimicking the successful Placer County model. The program highlights PCSO’s commitment to reduce the recidivism rate in Placer County. The class concluded with a graduation ceremony that included uplifting speeches and delicious food prepared by Chef Danny and the aspiring chefs. Courtesy of Placer County Newsletter
