    Economists from The University of Chicago Booth School of Business conducted an experiment in which they applied to jobs at 100 of the largest companies in the U.S. using made-up resumes. Each resume had equivalent qualifications, but the names were changed to suggest the applicants were white or Black and male or female.  The findings show that presumed white applicants were contacted 9.5% more than presumed Black applicants, highlighting the ongoing challenge with recruitment bias across industries.
