Grateful to host a premier #readingpromiseweek event, organized each year by Read by 4th, a program of Free Library of Philadelphia. Children enjoyed an interactive reading of Marian Anderson's illustrative children's book, ”When Marian Sang”, with visuals and live music by Opera Philadelphia. Jillian Pirtle, CEO of the National Marian Anderson Museum and Historical Society, showcased rare artifacts of the musical icon and provided complimentary Marian Anderson coloring books and crayola supplies. Artwork from students of Martha Washington School was on display in the hotel's art gallery, featuring the children's visual interpretation of Marian’s music. Special surprise guest, Pennsylvania State Senator Vincent J. Hughes, spoke with the children, asking them each to share their favorite book, while the Senator shared his, Toad on the Road.
