We rescue the abandoned, beaten, bred, injured, terrified, defeated and betrayed, and give them all a second chance.

About us

We seek out and take in those who no other organization will help or would simply euthanize because they are too expensive to heal. We rescue the abandoned, beaten, bred, fought, injured, terrified, defeated and betrayed. The minute they enter our doors, we look in their eyes and promise them ALL the second chance they deserve for health, home, commitment and love, no matter the time or cost.

Stray Rescue of St. Louis Receives Transformative $1,000,000 Gift for New Main Shelter Campus St. Louis, Missouri (May 14, 2024) –Stray Rescue of St. Louis is excited to announce they have received a historic and transformative gift of $1,000,000 from philanthropist Carol Epstein in support of the animal welfare organization’s new shelter campus in the Dutchtown neighborhood in St. Louis City. Stray Rescue is currently under construction at the campus consisting of over four acres and three buildings which will total 120,000 square feet at completion. The animal welfare organization’s new facility will include a Humane Education Center for children, low-cost veterinary services for the community, expanded Animal Adoption Center, Training Center and so much more.  “I am continually impressed with Stray Rescue’s diligent and dedicated work within our community and have been an enthusiastic supporter of their progress for many years. Animal Welfare and Humane Education for children is extremely close to my heart and is vital for improving the treatment of and compassion for animals,” said Carol. “Ourcommon love for animals can serve as a bridge to unite us all, which will ultimately help the community. The next generation represents the future of animal welfare, so it’s fitting the future of Stray Rescue will be named in honor of my great nephew and niece. They, along with other young animal advocates, represent the vision of what is possible when children at a young age are exposed to the joy of people and animals coming together to help, heal, learn and love.” Stray Rescue’s CEO, Cassady Caldwell, said, “We are deeply appreciative of Carol Epstein’s lifechanging gift and for her visionary heart for the animals and community of St. Louis. We are so excited about this next chapter of Stray Rescue and are proud to have the opportunity to do even more for the animals who need us and for the people who love them. The investment that Carol is making in our organization’s future will leave a resounding legacy for generations to come!” This project is expected to be completed in 3-5 years, and Stray Rescue of St. Louis continues to fundraise for the capital campaign to make this project possible. To leave a legacy and secure naming rights at a wide range of giving levels, visit https://lnkd.in/gHmDfs5v or call to speak with the organization’s Chief Development Officer, Aimee Dearsley, at 314-274-9873.
