Exit Strategy? What's that!? In my many years working with small business owners, it's surprising how the vast majority do not have an exit strategy; moreover, most don't know or understand what an exit strategy truly is. Consider that an exit strategy is giving your business a purpose--a destination. Without it, the business is like a ship lost at sea. What are some examples of an exit strategy? You could grow, scale and eventually sell your business...you could create a franchise model...you could leave a legacy and pass the business on to your children...these are a few common examples. However, know this: in any of the above examples, any person looking to step in and run your business will need to see that your operational metrics, your financial metrics, your systems, your numbers and your people; that everything is in place working, such that if they did take it over, they would have absolute certainty that the business will continue to run without YOU having to go with it! There is a significant distinction between a business operator and a business owner. A business operator is working so much IN the business, that they rarely if at all get to work ON the business...the business is running them, they are not running it. A true business owner can leave their business for 30 days (or more!) without checking their phone or email, and come back to a business that GREW while they were away! What systems can you put in place to groom your business for an exit strategy that calls you to action? Have a powerful day!

Some truth to ponder. I'm reading a book right now where the theme is that the meaning of life is completely in what we perceive it to be; what we decide events and circumstances mean gives us our experience. We have more say than we know. #thoughtsbecomethings #personalgrowth #choosehappiness

Suffering occurs when you focus on yourself. Change your focus to helping someone or contributing to something else, and watch the suffering disappear. This concept is a hard pill to swallow, because it requires us to accept full responsibility for our sufferings. In the moment of conflict it’s human and common for us to point the finger and place blame elsewhere. But what if there were a better way? Have you ever felt like you’ve been wronged by someone? Were they completely out of line and in the wrong from every possible perspective? Even so, it’s the focusing on your own self and perceived pain that perpetuates the suffering you’re experiencing. It’s been said that if you want to feel love, give it. Find someone you can express love to, and you’ll experience love yourself. If you feel worthless or depressed, who can you reach out to to express your gratitude for their friendship or how could you otherwise make another’s day by giving of yourself, unselfishly, to another? We may still feel the sting of suffering in the days to come, but our suffering is thinned and reduced, sometimes even eliminated when we shift our focus to giving to someone else.
