On July 10-12, St. Louis Fed President Alberto G. Musalem visited Little Rock, Ark. He met with business and community leaders to learn about local economic conditions and key industries. As part of his visit, he also shared his views on monetary policy and the U.S. economy during a Q&A at a Little Rock Regional Chamber event. In addition, he toured two businesses: Westrock Coffee Co.’s roast to ready-to-drink manufacturing facility in Conway, Ark., which is the largest such factory in North America, and Dassault Falcon Jet in Little Rock. Engaging with people and communities throughout the Eighth Federal Reserve District helps President Musalem gain important insights that he can bring to monetary policy discussions. The first associations that spring to mind when you hear “the price elasticity of demand” probably aren’t MrBeast, Logan Paul or Kylie Jenner. But as St. Louis Fed research associate Sam Jordan-Wood explores, might influencers be using this concept to their benefit when it comes to selling chocolate, energy drinks and makeup? At a glance: Price elasticity of demand is a measure of consumers’ sensitivity to changes in prices. -Perfectly elastic demand = If the price increases at all ⬆️, demand will fall to zero. ⬇️ -Perfectly inelastic demand = No matter how the price changes, demand for the product will remain exactly the same. 💡Learn about prices and brand loyalty in Sam’s blog post: https://ow.ly/aqqv50Szc8p #Economy #Economics #FederalReserve
