#PrideMonth is especially meaningful at the U.S. Department of State because many of our colleagues are posted in countries and regions where they do not have the same rights and privileges as cisgender or heterosexual citizens. Despite this, they immerse themselves in these environments to advance diplomacy in service of both their country and the global community at large. As #Pride celebrations come to an end, we remain steadfast in our support of #LGBTQI personnel at home and abroad.

We concluded #PrideMonth alongside #LGBTQI+ colleagues and #allies at a reception hosted by Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Special Envoy to Advance the Human Rights of LGBTQI+ Persons Jessica Stern. As Secretary Blinken stated, treating all human beings, including LGBTQI+ citizens, with respect and dignity is the smart and necessary thing to do for our country and security. LGTBQI+ inclusion creates stable, healthy, prosperous, and democratic countries.
