🇱🇻 What an intense few days of sustainable and creative fashion in Balvi! 1️⃣ The 7th of June, in a creative atmosphere, we had an inspiring meeting with Aiva Zīle, the creator of the Latvian fashion brand “ZĪLE.” She shared her journey of establishing a social enterprise brand and her commitment to a more sustainable future. ZĪLE’s product range includes dresses, skirts, and blouses made from men’s shirts, jackets and trench coats from men’s suits. 📍 In the meantime, At the ZIB exhibit, we tried on garments made from denim jeans and men’s shirts, searching for their unique model. While at the MEISTAR workshop, we gained experience with professional sewing techniques and learned to sew our own unique ZĪLE style dress. _______________ 2️⃣ The 11th of June, we had our second meeting with the FashionFor young team from the "Future Heroes" program. We discussed about what fast fashion is and how we can act to slow its spread, as well as the impact of textiles on the environment. We also highlighted ways to inspire both young people and people of all ages to recycle clothing and educate them about sustainability. 📍 In the meantime, at the ZIB exhibit, a small fashion show showcased new outfits made from used clothes. Each outfit was carefully designed with a story and purpose, matching details and accessories thoughtfully. While at the MEISTAR workshop, we created new jewelry from forgotten necklaces, brooches, and beads using recycled materials from Lamur Flowers, a company known for making large-scale flowers and wings.
