Sharing on behalf of Stanford BEAM TEAM Employee Resource Group: #Juneteenth, celebrated on June 19, marks the day in 1865 when Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas, to announce the end of slavery—over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation. It's a day to honor African American resilience and heritage, reflecting on both the progress and challenges that remain. Stanford celebrates Juneteenth by hosting events that showcase African American food, art, culture and more. From June 4 to July 19, 2024, a range of activities will be held in person across Stanford venues and virtually online.

Beginning in the fall of 1961, a group of pioneering nurses in San Francisco gathered and formed the Filipino Nurses Association (FNA), which later became the #PNANC in the late 1980s. Throughout these years and to date, ONLY FOUR distinguished individuals have received this very prestigious recognition, with Dr. Beatty being the fourth recipient. This esteemed recognition is a testament to Dr. Beatty's outstanding contributions and unwavering support for the nursing community and the PNAA organization.
