Thank you all so much for making our Hard to Recycle Fair a success with an amazing 392 attendees! We have been pausing our annual recycling events ever since COVID-19 and are overjoyed not only to bring them back, but also be met with so much support from the community. 💚💚💚 We couldn’t have done it without our partner, Saint Louis University's AI CHESS Lab, and our sponsors, St. Louis - Jefferson County Solid Waste Management District and Missouri Department of Natural Resources. Of course, we can’t forget our specialized vendors: Midwest Recycling Center, PassbackJustused Tech, STLHelp, Remains, Home Sweet Home, and 10 Billion Strong. ♻️ Thank you to our volunteers for their hard work in making this possible, and our guests Pizza Head, Scoops Water Ice, and Amara Arts for bringing the deliciousness and fun!

Our Recycling On the Go team had a busy July! ♻️ We brought our Zero Waste Station to Food Truck Friday and our Hard to Recycle Fair, teaching hundreds of event attendees how to compost and recycle. We also participated in a Waste Characterization Study in partnership with Saint Louis University to research the rate of recycling contamination in different residential routes and determine how to improve moving forward. See you again next month, STL 😁

Our Green Dining Alliance just became even more magical…✨🍦🧙♀️🌈 We are THRILLED to announce the newest member of the family, Sugarwitch!!! Sugarwitch passed our sustainability audit with flying colors, receiving a full 5 star rating for their waste reduction, sourcing, and community-focused efforts. 🌎 Located at the historic Carondelet Bakery, the oldest operating bakery built in 1875, this beloved queer-owned business serves up delicious ice cream sandwiches, cones, sundaes, and pastries using old-world bakery equipment. Sugarwitch’s rotating seasonal menu features ingredients sourced from local farms like Farmstead Foods. They also use locally produced eggs, herbs from a family member’s garden, and even use apples from the tree in their backyard! Plus, they get creative with their food scraps by transforming leftover “witch ends” into new menu items and ice cream flavors. ♻️ Customers can pair their treats with tea from local Big Heart Tea, locally produced Excel soda, or house-made cold brew using beans from fellow GDA member Coffeestamp for the ultimate green indulgence! We are so honored to be part of Sugarwitch’s sustainability journey and can’t wait to see how they grow. 💚
