🚀 Big news! 🚀 After a tremendous ride for the past four years on the venture side at Andreessen Horowitz, it’s time for me to get back to building. I’m jumping in this week as the VP of Product at Sprinter Health where we’re building a hybrid care model to engage the unengaged around preventive health. Over the past 4 years at a16z I had the chance to meet 4k+ founders betting this chapter of their lives on impacting the healthcare delivery system and ultimately patients. It’s magnetic. It’s inspiring. Thank you. But, from the moment I met Max Cohen, Cameron Behar, Ariana A., and the broader team at Sprinter Health back in 2021, there was something deeply special about their rare combination of ambition, impact-orientation, and product velocity coupled with a deep respect for the laws of physics in healthcare. After spending the last couple of years along for the ride as an investor at a16z and seeing that story play out, I knew this was where I wanted my next chapter to be to hack on the last-mile challenge of healthcare. A huge thank you to Julie Yoo, Vineeta Agarwala, MD PhD, Vijay Pande, PhD, Jorge Conde, Scott Kupor, Daisy Wolf, Annie Collins, Jay Rughani and the whole a16z Bio + Health team at a16z. The last four years have been the most exciting and meaningful of my career, so far. UCI Health has partnered with Sprinter Health, a technology-enabled provider of in-home preventive services, to bring accessible and equitable care to patients facing barriers to regular health screenings. The collaboration launched last year allows #UCIHealth Medi-Cal patients to receive in-home services at no cost, including blood draws for #diabetes and #kidneyhealth monitoring labs, diabetic #eyeexams, #bloodpressure checks, #pediatric lead screenings and more. We’re excited to announce that we’re teaming up with UCI Health to deliver in-home preventive care to Medi-Cal patients and help address health disparities in the community. The partnership launched last year to “engage the unengaged” with no-cost in-home visits that close care gaps and help UCI Health providers support patients in managing diabetes and hypertension, monitoring kidney health, and screening for early detection of colorectal cancer and other treatable health conditions. Since launching, UCI Health has reached more Medi-Cal members for hands-on screenings and exceeded California Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) Quality Incentive Pool (QIP) targets for four priority quality measures — a meaningful step towards a shared goal of creating a more coordinated, patient-centered, and equitable Medi-Cal system.
