Thanks to Alison Gilmore for speaking to our company today, sharing her story as part of Disability Pride Month. Alison, a recent graduate of Syracuse University, who currently works for the Detroit Tigers and previously interned with Sports Reference, LLC-Reference told the story of her career path as someone living and working with cerebral palsy. Alison had a relationship with SIS as part of our mentor-mentee program with Syracuse's Women in Sports Analytics club. We were grateful she was willing to spend some time with us today. Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee regularly presents guest speakers to our employees to show our support for a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce.

Our mission is to enrich and optimize the decision-making process for sports teams, sportsbooks, and sports fans.
About us
Here at SIS, we’re proud to be leaders in collecting, analyzing and distributing the deepest data sets and insights to professional sports teams across MLB, NBA and NFL, while also partnering extensively with the leagues themselves. Our mission is to enrich and optimize the decision-making process for sports teams, sportsbooks, and sports fans. Our vision is to create an unparalleled platform of sporting data and insights through best-in-class technology, products, and partnerships. Our versatility, subject matter expertise, and desire to enhance our partner’s performance is at the core of what we do. As we enter the next chapter of our trajectory, we are keen to put our data and newfound products to use to improve the sports fan experience, while being a critical part of the supply chain. Our existing database offers unparalleled detail and is updated daily, not just for the 3 professional sports listed, but at the collegiate, international and minor league levels as well. We are also moving further into the real-time data space (for the above noted sports) and into new sports/leagues. A key differentiator for us relative to competition is our flexibility and ability to customize feeds, data points, etc based on specific needs of partners. Company chairman John Dewan founded the company with a group of partners in 2003. John has been a pioneer in sports statistics for more than 40 years and was the founder of STATS Inc. In April of 2021, Audeo Capital announced a significant investment into SIS. Shortly thereafter, a new CEO (Dan Hannigan-Daley) and VP of Product/Engineering (Will Hester) joined the organization following years of success at DraftKings.

Something to think about (and perhaps share with us) as you read this article about Cardinals shortstop Masyn Winn's defensive excellence this season: Our stat, Defensive Runs Saved, values Winn as easily the defensive leader at his position and the article explains why. But trying to figure out if he's the best defensive shortstop in baseball is another story When evaluating the quality of a player's performance, a lot of things come into play. Sample size, opinions of others, other versions of similar stats, extenuating circumstances related to injury. You should be taking all of these things into account. We trust our numbers and encourage you to use them but acknowledge the numbers don't always tell the whole story. So a question for you with regards to evaluating players: How do you balance all of the information you have available? https://lnkd.in/e3QncQha

Looking to see what those who follow us (and those who don't) get most excited by when they watch a baseball game. We're limited to only 4 choices, so you can't pick "all of the above" :) And reply with which player most excites you when you watch ...

"Who's your first half MVP and Cy Young?" is a question we hear all time. But rarely does anyone ask "Who was baseball's defensive MVP?" Asked and answered - per Mark Simon, the answer is Blue Jays outfielder Daulton Varsho Uniquely built and well skilled. Read all about him: https://lnkd.in/e6fG-Sew

Our Brandon Tew broke down MLB Draft prospect Vance Honeycutt using a combination of his scouting and the data that we track. Honeycutt ranks in the 97th percentile for hard-hit rate and ranks #1 among college center fielders in Defensive Runs Saved. He's one of the most exciting - albeit potentially inconsistent - players in the MLB Draft. #MLBDraft #BaseballAnalytics #DefensiveRunsSaved #SportsAnalytics https://lnkd.in/e8qy3Ukz

Our Chief Operating Officer Matt Manocherian has some thoughts on what remains of the scouting/analytics disconnect in the NFL and why it's past time that this is even an issue. #footballanalytics #NFL #sportsanalytics https://lnkd.in/e_bNn3Na

Modern MLB metrics allow us to get a much better understanding of what makes a player so good on defense. In the case of Jacob Young, it's the jumps he gets that allow him to catch fly balls that others don't. “You’re working on taking a step one way and being able to course correct back to that original spot," Young said in an interview on our company's baseball podcast. Read about it and listen to the interview here: #SISData #MLB #WashingtonNationals #FieldingBibleAwards https://lnkd.in/ezbSNGNc
For Jacob Young, Great Catches Start with Great Jumps

Each year, we publish a series of college baseball scouting reports from a few of our Video Scouts, our seasonal employees who watch games and evaluate players. First up this year is Dakota Jordan from Mississippi State. One of the cool things within these reports is that we're able to enhance them with the data we track. So for example, we can tell you that Jordan ranks in the 98th percentile in Division I in hard-hit rate based on the games we've tracked using our "Synthetic Statcast" application. "Oozing with physical tools, Dakota Jordan projects to be a power hitting corner outfielder at the major league level" - Colin Sanders Read his detailed scouting report here: #SISData #collegebaseball #MLBDraft #MLBscouting https://lnkd.in/eVs4BsDr
