About us

Spokane Regional Clean Air Agency (Spokane Clean Air) is one of seven local air pollution control agencies in Washington state. The agency was originally established as the Spokane County Air Pollution Control Authority after passage of the 1967 Clean Air Washington Act (RCW 70.94). Spokane Clean Air is responsible for enforcing federal, state and local air pollution standards and governing air pollutant emissions from new and existing sources. A five-member Board of Directors establishes the policies and oversees the operations of the agency. Air Monitoring - A network of monitoring stations are located throughout Spokane County. To better assess air quality in outlying areas of the county, Business Registration, Facility Inspections & Compliance Assistance - Achieving emissions reductions from industrial and commercial operations. Complaint Response & Enforcement - Agency field staff respond to hundreds of complaints from citizens concerned about air quality. Education & Outreach - The vast majority of air pollution comes from individual behaviors, which is why we provide a host of education and outreach programs in our community. Public awareness of air pollution problems and solutions is key to achieving long term behavior change that will result in clean, healthful air.
