Portfolio company Loft Orbital is working to make space more accessible with their new “virtual missions” concept. This approach will allow developers to deploy their software apps onto a Loft satellite, permitting them to leverage onboard sensors and compute nodes for various use cases. 🛰
Over the past two years, Loft has quietly built the product stack that enables any developer to deploy software apps to Loft satellites, or what we call virtual missions. ⚡ Today, we’re excited to announce YAM-6, the first virtual mission-enabled satellite. YAM-6 will abstract away the hardware by providing access to Loft-owned sensors and compute nodes that support AI. These satellites will help Capella to provide better coverage and more frequent revisits over crucial areas of interest for their customers. 🛰
