The Voice of South Carolina Manufacturing
About us
The South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance serves to preserve and promote the economic health of manufacturing industries in South Carolina by seeking positive action in state government. We communicate with and educate South Carolina state and local officials and the general public on issues of importance to manufacturing industries. We emphasize that by maintaining strong manufacturing industries in the state, South Carolina’s economy will also remain strong. In order to accomplish these goals SCMA fosters member and staff involvement in monitoring issues, formulating positions, and informing the manufacturing industries of government-related matters. In addition, we focus on increasing manufacturing industry membership.

SC Future Makers and the South Carolina Arts Commission recently collaborated to create a series of short films highlighting the impact of art, creativity, and innovation on South Carolina manufacturing. We were honored to feature Emily Owens, a senior Commercial Art major at Piedmont Technical College, in this project. Emily helped showcase Sage Automotive Interiors in Abbeville, illustrating how the arts contribute to producing unique styles and high-performance fabrics for the automotive industry. The series will be released soon, but in the meantime, learn more about Emily and her experience at PTC.

The South Carolina Manufacturers Alliance applauds the U.S. Supreme Court’s recent rulings in Loper Bright Enterprises v. Raimondo and Corner Post, Inc. v. Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System. Together, the rulings represent significant wins for manufacturers across the country. Regulatory uncertainty is one of the most significant impediments to manufacturers' ability to grow, invest, and create jobs. By overturning the Chevron Doctrine and providing clarity in the statute of limitations, businesses will face fewer overly broad interpretations of existing statutes. These rulings will help strengthen the U.S. economy and will benefit all American workers. We also appreciate Governor Henry McMaster's support for U.S. manufacturers by filing an amicus brief in the Loper Bright case. We remain hopeful that the court will continue to favor pro-business decisions.
What it means for the Supreme Court to throw out Chevron decision, undercutting federal regulators
