Joseph Sam, Marketing Manager, became a co-lead of our LGBTQIA+ employee network (eNet) in an effort to create the change he envisions for the world, while meeting other people from the company that have the same passions, struggles, and hopes for the future. One of his most memorable moments as a co-lead is when he had the opportunity to speak on a panel at Qualcomm representing Sony (pictured below). "Sony really is leading the way when it comes to LGBTQ+ rights and issues in the corporate workplace and it's an amazing feeling to be a part of that," he says. #SonyProud #Pride #TeamSony

Sony is proud to continue our tradition of participating in San Diego Pride, a cornerstone of our commitment to LGBTQIA+ inclusion. More than just a fun time, the parade helps fund LGBTQIA+ programs serving marginalized communities. 🌟🏳️🌈💜🥳 "Although there are many Pride events throughout June, the San Diego parade and festival have such an amazing atmosphere with all the music, energy and hundreds of thousands of people," says Leigh Anderson, MPM (Eng), Senior Program Manager. "I'm grateful to work for a company that shares my commitment to human rights." #SonyProud #Pride #SDPride

Today, Sony honors #Juneteenth, which marks the official end of slavery on June 19, 1865. Juneteenth is an opportunity to unite in celebration of the strength, resilience, and significant contributions of Black Americans. Our U.S. offices are closed today to commemorate this historical milestone. Additionally, our Black employee network hosted an educational event and created a resource guide for #TeamSony to learn about the history and importance of Juneteenth. Together, we remain committed to pursuing justice, equality, and opportunities for all.

Thomas Merkel, Associate Director, Business Partner, has been involved in our LGBTQIA+ employee network (eNet) since its inception more than 15 years ago. Reflecting on Sony's first time participating in San Diego Pride, he fondly recalls a modest beginning: "We started with a small group of parade marchers and a booth featuring a few televisions, PlayStations, and a pink feather boa." Check out the photo of our first booth below! Over the years, our presence at #SDPride has grown significantly. Last year, we celebrated our largest turnout yet, with approximately 250 employees and their loved ones proudly representing #TeamSony. #SonyProud #Pride
