Congratulations to the winner of our CLABSI innovation survey: University Hospitals/Rainbow Babies & Children’s Hospital 👏 They created a dedicated central line nursing team that places PICC lines and manages all central lines in all ICUs throughout the hospital. This team also identifies patients at an increased risk of CLABSI and collaborates with physicians, quality improvement specialists, clinical team members, and infection prevention staff to mitigate risks. This innovation led to a dramatic decrease in CLABSI rates due to this intervention, including over 1,000 days CLABSI-free in the NICU and over 365 days CLABSI-free in the CTICU!
