#SDF2024 is a wrap, and what a day it was! Last year, we were in the audience, but this year our Dr. Dennis Kuesters Rushabh Jinwala got to share insights on #SoftwareDefinedFactory from a business perspective. In the words of Seth Godin, “The best way to create value in the 21st century is to connect creativity with technology.” We discussed how integrating SDA and IDE as a Service can lead to significant savings, improved efficiency, and enhanced productivity. #AutomatedWorkflows and #AI reduce administrative overhead, safeguard data, and ensure swift disaster recovery, all while boosting security and compliance. Today's #SoftwareDefinedFactory sessions include real-world challenges faced by Michaela Bessell and Johannes Holtmann at Henkel, David Tabacco at CLEVERTECH SPA – Innovative Automation for Front-Centre-End of packaging line, and Bastian Benda at GRASS Group and how they have adopted #IndustrialDevOps to simplify #PLC and #robot management and development, increase efficiency, and improve #security. Backup, version control, browser-based engineering, and secure remote access are common themes.

One of the cool things about today's event, if we do say so ourselves 😉, is that the sessions have a live companion technical implementation where #SoftwareDefinedAutomation's Michael Frey is showing a working #SoftwareDefinedFactory in real time. In these photos, you can see his screen on the second monitor and the #PLC and #robot are in the center of room while Josef Waltl walks through the #IndustrialDevOps concept. By the end of the day, we will have gone from basic programming and commissioning to global remote collaboration, backup and versioning over to data gathering, aggregation, and AI use cases.
