I am Leonardo Sanchez (@dznarch) @leon and I come from a Graphic Design background, but three years ago I decided it was time to reinvent myself, so I made the decision to pursue a career in Architecture. When I started this journey, I honestly had no idea what it would involve and what connections I would make along the way. Everyone who I have met has been another important piece to the puzzle that is my rediscovery and SoCal NOMA is a major component and one that has made this impossible accomplishment a foreseeable reality. So many people to thank the list keeps growing. Thank you for being a part of my journey. #dznarch #socalnoma #architecture #sciarc #dtla https://lnkd.in/gBJnSu3J

About us
SoCalNOMA seeks to advance and support the education and careers of those who have been historically under-represented in the field of architecture and various allied design/build professions. Members include architects, designers, civil engineers, structural engineers, interior designers, urban planners and product manufacturers. 1. To promote the agendas of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion for under-represented minorities in the architecture and design professions 2. To enhance “connectivity” among professionals across the Southern California region to promote hiring, licensure, continuing education, and business development. 3. To support members at all levels of their career paths (students, young professionals, licensed professionals, and firm owners). 4. To strengthen the ties between architects and industry colleagues (developers, contractors, agencies, manufacturers, vendors, etc.). 5. To further the pipeline of “future architects” by promoting architecture and engineering as a career path for students.

Hello! My name is ( Gabriela Arevalo ) and I am a returning intern at the SoCal NOMA Summer Camp. Having been a camper myself, I know how empowering it is to have a mentor from a similar background as you. The summer camp not only exposed me to the built environment, but also introduced me to inspiring individuals who were working hard to achieve their dreams. Returning as an intern, I am eager to give back and contribute to the camp that played such a pivotal role in my personal and professional growth. I hope to inspire the next generation of campers just as I was inspired by those before me. It’s a privilege to be part of a program that not only educates but also fosters a supportive community. #ArchitectureStudent #SoCalNOMA #InspireChange #DesignTheFuture GABRIELA AREVALO LINKEDIN

Hello everyone! My name is Francesca Ushindi, and I am thrilled to be a returning intern at the annual SoCal NOMA Architecture Summer Camp. When I decided to pursue a career in architecture I had no exposure to programs like NOMA's Project Pipeline. Therefore, it's incredibly gratifying to now have the opportunity to give back to an organization that has been instrumental in my own professional development. As an intern, it is truly fulfilling to be able to contribute to the community and help create opportunities that I didn't have for future generations. For me, it's about supporting others and ensuring that they can benefit from this experience. #SoCalNOMA #FutureArchitect #WomenInArchitecture https://lnkd.in/g7mJ2YQj

Hi, I'm (@Daniel Magallanes), and I'm on a mission to shape the future through architecture. As a student at Woodbury University and an aspiring architect, my pursuit is deeply personal. Coming from a background of immigrant parents, I am driven to be a leader and a source of inspiration for young people in similar situations. Through architecture, I aim to show that it's possible to reach for the stars and build our dreams into realities. My goal is to empower the next generation to envision and create a better world. #ArchitectureStudent #SoCalNOMA #InspireChange #DesignTheFuture DANIEL MAGALLANES LINKEDIN

Hello Everyone! I am Akira Maclin, I am so excited to be interning once again with SoCal NOMA and helping to put on the best camp ever. NOMA has been pivotal thus far in my career to becoming an architect. I hope to mentor students that are in the same place I once was and grow the NOMA family even more. #ArchitectureStudent #FutureArchitect #SoCalNOMA https://lnkd.in/gzGhzrcb

SoCAL NOMA's Developing Professionals and the DesignBuild Institute of America's Young Professionals (DBIA Western Pacific Region) are teaming up again this year to host a summer social! Building from our successful panel last summer, we now ask “How do you manage different team’s priorities and align expectations on a project?” Our insightful panel of industry leaders represents each of the primary teams involved in a Design-Build project and they will share insight into what their priorities are, how they can see elements through other teams’ perspectives, the best ways to find a compromise as a team that needs to adjust for the good of the project, or as a moderator between other teams. They will talk about how to keep a growth mindset and establish a space for constant learning and openness to others on the team. Whether newer in your career or established, there will be something for you to take away from this presentation and share with your team. Wednesday, July 17, 2024 5:30pm Hensel Phelps DTLA Office (AON Center Auditorium) 707 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90017 Food & Beverages will be provided and ample time to network with our friends in the industry. RSVP: https://lnkd.in/gQdxcswR Featuring: HENSEL PHELPS, A3 Engineering, NAC , California State University, Long Beach, Critchfield Mechanical, Inc., Critical Air Technologies
