The wait is almost over. Our highly anticipated 5-star hotel, Horizon by SkyCity, will open its doors on 1 August 2024. Set to re-define Auckland's hospitality landscape, Horizon by SkyCity brings 303 rooms to the SkyCity precinct, making SkyCity Hotels the largest single site of accommodation in New Zealand, with 938 rooms across three hotels.   Experience New Zealand’s first underground Porte Cochère, locally commissioned art and sculptures, and intricate materials used throughout the rooms and public areas to reflect the natural landscape of New Zealand. Connecting guests for both business and leisure, guests have seamless access via connecting air-bridges to a world-class entertainment and dining precinct here at SkyCity, and soon, one of the most advanced convention facilities, within the New Zealand International Convention Centre.   Adding to the dining scene here at SkyCity, we’re excited for the return of The Grill in a brand-new location within the hotel. In the lobby, The Grill celebrates New Zealand with exceptional steak and seafood with a classic, modern approach. TRENZ Day One in windy Wellington!   Hosted at the Tākina Convention and Exhibition Centre, Chang Chen, Jean Chapman and Archana Kawatra are ready for a busy couple of days with a long list of appointments, meeting new faces as well as catching up with industry friends.   With a range of speakers throughout the event, our very own Chang will be a guest speaker alongside Janice Liu from PRIZM, in a panel discussion with Xiaohongshu, a leading digital platform for Chinese travellers. SkyCity were honoured to host ahikā and tangata whenua of central Tāmaki Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei this morning for the official blessing of Horizon by SkyCity. This is a milestone moment for the SkyCity precinct and our first joint venture following the formal recognition of the partnership between SkyCity Auckland and Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei, and we were humbled by the friendship, emotion, and forward thinking of the blessing.     Joined by Brad Burnett (Interim Chief Operating Officer, New Zealand), Shaun Philip (Chief People and Culture Officer), and David Allott (Interim Executive General Manager Hospitality Auckland) with supporting teams from Horizon by SkyCity, Te Roopū Māori o SkyCity and SkyCity Auckland joined with NWŌ and their kaumatua in this special protocol.   Before the sun rose the full twelve floors of the hotel were blessed. The voices of Ngāti Whātua Ōrākei rung out across the floors of the hotel, echoing around the space filling it with beauty and life, blessing them for those that are yet to come.   SkyCity is a proud supporter of the Tiaki promise. As some of our team kicks back for a well-deserved break, we hope you all are doing the same, taking some time to rest and reset. It’s this time that we can take the opportunity and look back on the year just gone, reflect on our wins, and most importantly celebrate our dedicated team that make it all happen.   2023 was filled with achievements, with new openings across our precinct, and visitors returning to Auckland. Our team at SkyCity Hotel now has a pop of colour with new uniforms, The Grand by SkyCity welcomed a new breakfast restaurant The Terrace, as well as Metita, by leading New Zealand chef Michael Meredith. East Day Spa underwent a refurbishment, and unveiled their stunning space for our guests to enjoy.   With a brand new 5-star hotel on the horizon next year, we’re looking forward to opening our third Auckland property on 1 March, and adding to the vibrant SkyCity precinct and mid-town footprint. We have new faces joining our team, promotions within our departments and we’re excited for the appointment of key roles to lead Horizon by SkyCity.   Wishing you all a very Merry Christmas, and a Happy New Year from our hotels family to yours!

Wearing the Golden Keys as a reminder of the bond, professionalism and care for our guests, our very own Kent Gumapac gained his Les Clefs d’Or membership and was presented with his keys by President of Les Clefs d’Or New Zealand, Kris Mosch, as well as our SkyCity Director of Hotel Operations, Michael Anderson.   Since joining the Concierge team at SkyCity Hotel, Kent’s offered exemplary service to guests, with his calm and friendly demeanour and willingness to make every guest stay, a memorable one. With his extensive network of contacts, he make the impossible possible, and is a natural fit for Les Clefs d’Or.
