Blood Emergency Update: We would like to personally thank the donors for their blood donations this week, as they have directly impacted the lives of our community. This Friday morning, Shepeard Community Blood Center filled all blood product requests from local hospitals. This is the first time all orders have been completely filled in more than 6 weeks. Shepeard has collected more blood at its donor centers and mobile drives in the first 4 days of the appeal than the organization did in the 12 days prior to the appeal. Although patients currently have what they need, the shelves at Shepeard remain empty as all the blood collected this week went immediately to hospitals. As a reminder, everyone who donated this week during the emergency appeal will be eligible to donate again the week of August 5, 2024, when we will still desperately need blood donations. The need for blood never takes a vacation.
